Service Description:

Student's cooperative education program comprises a cooperative education course and the related curriculum course (or courses) or Ministry-approved, locally-developed course on which the cooperative education must be based * The cooperative education course consists of a classroom component and a placement component; this prepares the student for successful participation in a work placement, provides sufficient time and various opportunities at the placement to enable the student to apply and further develop the knowledge and skills acquired in the related course, and provides opportunities for the student to integrate the learning acquired in school and at the placement

The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP): A specialized program that enables full time high school students with 16 credits and who are 16 years of age or older to meet diploma requirements while participating in an occupation that requires apprenticeship

Gives students a “jump start” on their training before completing high school. Once students graduate from high school they continue training through the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MTCU) apprenticeship program to receive their certification. There are also specialized OYAP programs that can give a student advanced skill training
