Service Description:

Regional vascular diagnostic service to physicians and clinicians with important information on the presence and severity of peripheral arterial disease (including Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) testing), peripheral venous disease, extracranial cerebrovascular disease and abdominal vascular disease in those patients referred for testing

All diagnostic examinations are performed by a Registered Vascular Sonographer or training students under the direct supervision of a qualified Vascular Sonographer * All examinations are reviewed and reported by a qualified Vascular Surgeon

Diagnostic test results are only provided to referring and primary care Physicians * Normal reporting time is 72 hours (3 business days) from examination time to report receipt by the referring or primary care Physician * The Centre is actively involved in clinical evaluation, patient screening programs, disease progression surveillance, post-operative patient monitoring, education and research

Set fees * Covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)

Application:

Valid ultrasound requisition is required and must be completed and submitted by an accepted health-care provider * Requisitions must be faxed along with relevant clinical details to 613-761-4423 * Referring providers may contact the booking clerk with any questions at 613-761-4536 * Patients are usually notified by mail regarding appointment time and date * For consult referrals to a vascular surgeon fax 613-761-5362
