Connecting on Disabilities and Abuse
Workshop on Serving Disabled Victims: Understanding and Preventing Abuse of People with Disabilities
Serving Disabled Victims workshops are offered by CODA: Connecting on
Disability and Abuse. The workshop consists of PowerPoint slides, handouts,
interactive activities and referral resources.
The objectives of Serving Disabled Victims: Understanding and Preventing Abuse of People with Disabilities are:
- To raise awareness of service providers about the continuum of violence
against persons with disabilities including neglect, physical, sexual,
mental, psychological, emotional, and financial abuses
- To increase educational supports for service providers on what constitutes abuse against persons with disabilities and how to recognize it.
The Serving Disabled Victims: Understanding and Preventing Abuse of People with Disabilities workshop can be tailored to the specific needs of interested parties and can be from 1 to 3 hours in length.
These workshops are free and are available in English or in French.
