(ARNPRIOR ON): Community Support Agencies across Renfrew County, from Arnprior to Deep River are working together with the Champlain Community Transportation Collaborative and the Child Poverty Action Network on their first ever fundraising event, designed to assist “all ages and stages” of our community. If you enjoy Bluegrass, or great acoustic music and want to show your support for people all across Renfrew County – come out on July 14th for a wonderful evening with Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice, an award winning band from Virginia.

The cost of medical travel can cause great hardship to those living on a fixed income. This is especially true for long distances and for dialysis, which usually happens three times each week! The Transportation Collaborative, working under the sponsorship of Carefor Health and Community Services, works to provide as much subsidy as possible for those who need it.

The Child Poverty Action Network raises funds each year to help purchase “back-to–school” supplies, backpacks and shoes. For families living on a limited budget, these costs can be very stressful. Children need to be socially included and to feel that they have the same access to resources as their peers, if we want them to do well in school. And when children are included and helped to succeed in school, research shows they do much better as adults.

This event will help children living in poverty as well as those who have life threatening medical conditions and need transportation to obtain treatment. The evening will start at 5 p.m. with a Charity BBQ in the parking lot, with entertainment provided by local Ottawa Valley musicians. The concert will follow, starting at 6:30pm for ticket holders. Tickets are $15until July 1st and $20 after July 1st. Tickets can be purchased from Local Home Support Agencies, Valley Heritage Radio, and CPAN Proceeds will be shared with the Renfrew County Community Transportation Collaborative (RCCTC) subsidy fund and the Child Poverty Action Network (CPAN) “Back to School” Fund. Rick Leben, Host of Valley Heritage Radio’s weekly Valley Grass program will be the emcee for the evening. Support has also been provided by: Valley Heritage Radio, Speedpro Printing and professional sound by Bruce Presley.
