Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation Unveils: “Deep in December” – 3rd Annual Artist Series Holiday Cards Supports MRI: Image Matters Campaign

PEMBROKE – Local artist Helen Schruder’s painting “Deep in December” is featured in the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s third annual Christmas Card Fundraiser in support of the MRI: Image Matters Campaign for this holiday season.

Holiday shoppers have the opportunity from now right up until the week before Christmas to give the gift of MRI to their friends and loved ones. When a donation is made as a Christmas gift, the Foundation will send a signed “Deep in December” by Helen Schruder card to the lucky recipient with a personal message letting them know that a donation has been made to the MRI campaign in their honour.

Self-taught artist Mrs. Schruder painted “Deep in December” especially for the campaign. "Drawing has always come naturally to me and about 40 years ago I moved beyond that and I started painting in oils, gradually moving to watercolours. It’s very special that I can share this gift and support an important cause.” Mrs. Schruder said. Helen Schruder’s art is primarily nature-focused, but her Children Series remains her favourite. “I love painting children and thought building a snowman really captures the holiday spirit.” Past contributors for the holiday fundraiser have included artists Susan Blakeney and Barbara Blackstein. The “Deep in December” painting will be part of the silent auction at the Foundation’s Valentine’s Dance in February.

“We really hope this gift resonates with local families as this truly is a wonderful, thoughtful present that will benefit so many people,” says Nancy Warren Executive Director of the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation. The MRI: Image Matters Campaign has already achieved over $3.1 million of its $4.5 million dollar goal.
