Alzheimer Society asking for your help with Consultation on Neurological Conditions in Canada
In Canada, there is a lack of information about the extent and impact of neurological conditions (brain and nervous system diseases, disorders, conditions and injuries). This makes it difficult to plan effective policy, programs and investments. Neurological Health Charities Canada (NHCC) is committed to working towards filling this gap in information, and we are asking you to take a few minutes (approximately 10 minutes required) to express your views on what type of information you feel would be important to collect.
NHCC is a collective of organizations, including the Alzheimer Society of Canada, that represent people with chronic, often progressive, brain and nervous system diseases, disorders and injuries in Canada. Collaborating with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), we are considering what information is needed about the frequency of occurrence and the impact of diseases, disorders and injuries of the brain and nervous system. Your input is very important to us.
The on-line survey can be accessed on the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County’s website at www.alzheimer-ottawa-rc.org. This questionnaire will be accessible on-line until February 27, 2009. The results of the survey will help inform the agenda for a scientific workshop being held by NHCC in early March 2009 to do additional planning for the study.
As you may already know, Prime Minister Harper announced in the final days of the campaign that the government will spend $15 million to support the Neurological Health Charities of Canada (NHCC) conduct a population study to better understand the impact of neurological diseases, injuries and conditions. It is critical that we take advantage of every opportunity to ensure that Alzheimer Society stakeholders (clients, family members, and all those involved in the care or with a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia) have an opportunity to share their views.
Thank you for your participation!
