Service Description: Services include:
  • Clients can access the Kanata Food Cupboard in two ways: In-person shopping and by delivery (reserved for families without access to a vehicle or whose health/mobility does not allow them to attend in person)
  • Appointments are made for in-person shopping on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings as well as Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons * Families are paired with a volunteer and shop in our store area with a cart, making their own food selections
  • Deliveries are available Tuesday evenings (call Monday or Tuesday between 9am and 12pm to schedule a delivery)
  • Food assistance contains both fresh food items (dairy, protein, fruit, and vegetables), and a fully customizable non-perishable food hamper * This allows everyone to choose the items best suited to their family; food allotments are based on family size
  • Assistance with completing forms is available by phone for those without access or experiencing language barriers
  • Assistance in French is available
  • Food assistance is offered once every 30 days
  • Vegetarian, vegan, Halal, and special diets (including gluten free) can be accommodated, provided that the items are available * Eggs and vegetarian proteins are always available as fresh food choices
  • In addition to regular food assistance, three annual seasonal programs are offered: Thanksgiving Hampers, Back to School supplies, and Christmas Hampers

Application: Call Mon-Fri 9am-13h * do not leave a voicemail message to book an appointment * If the line is busy, call again * one photo ID and one recent bill within the last 1-2 months noting the client’s current Kanata address required * no third party referral required
