Service Description: Counselling services for women (cis and trans) who are experiencing or have experienced intimate partner violence

Individual Counselling: In-person or virtual appointments offering trauma-informed counselling * Safety planning * Assistance and ongoing support in creating an individualized plan to deal with family law, police reports, and other systems * Information and referrals

Support Groups: Offered in-person 2-3 times a year; groups meet weekly for 8-10 sessions *  Information and mutual support around abuse * Safety planning; Sharing resources

Transitional Support Program: Practical assistance with things like Housing applications, Safety planning, Referral to shelters, lawyers and other support services; Assistance with housing applications and applying for financial assistance; Court support; Accompaniment to legal, medical and other appointments

Programs for Child Witnesses violence
Individual counselling for children is offered in-person * Counselling is trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate
Consent of all parents/caregivers with decision-making authority required for children to participate with group or individual counseling

Mother’s Groups: Offered 2-3 times a year * groups meet weekly for 6 weeks * Workshops are single sessions for a duration of 2 hours

Information and mutual support around navigating post separation abuse, co-parenting issues and communication, supporting children through change and transitions

Children’s Groups: “Together We Thrive”, a group for children who have witnessed abuse or lived through family conflict * focuses on emotion regulation skills, healthy relationships, communication skills, coping strategies and building confidence and resilience * Groups offered 2-3 times a year and meet weekly for 6 sessions, usually in the evenings

Fees: Assistance with child care and transportation may be available to those who qualify
Application: Self-referral welcome * call the number above to speak to an Intake Worker * Referrals also accepted from family doctors, lawyers, police officers, or other community supports
Eligibility / Target Population: Women 18 years and older who are survivors of abuse; and children 6-17 who have witnessed abuse or experienced family conflict
