Service Description:
|
Health Unit programs and services are delivered in a variety of settings (schools, homes, workplaces, community) by a team of public health professionals
Health Protection programs include: water supply inspections and sampling, education on safe food handling, enforcement of Smoke Free Ontario Act, and health hazard investigations
Health Promotion and Clinical Services consist of public health nurses, health promoters, dental hygienists, social workers, registered practical nurses, and a community nutritionist who work to protect and promote health * Activities include immunization clinics, education related to prevention of chronic disease, prevention of falls, dental screening of children in schools, Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program, prenatal education, breastfeeding education, Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program and Parent Child Wellness clinics
Program Planning and Evaluation: local health statistics are analyzed to help understand the factors affecting the health of the community and to ensure that public health programs address local population health needs
