Ottawa, ON – Join the Mayor and the Curvy Girls Ottawa at the Scoliosis Awareness Day Proclamation Ceremony at City Hall. This event is open to the public and local media and begins at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017.

Scoliosis: An Abnormal Curvature of the Spine Affecting 1 Million Canadians

Scoliosis is a medical condition resulting in a curvature of the spine. Scoliosis is 8 times more likely to affect girls, and is typically diagnosed during teen years. Spinal curvatures can progress to a magnitude requiring treatment, such as bracing or spinal fusion surgery.

About Curvy Girls Ottawa
Established in 2011, the Curvy Girls Ottawa Scoliosis Support Group (CGO) is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization. The group’s primary mission is to raise awareness of scoliosis through education, while promoting the importance of early detection and treatment options. CGO strives to empower girls with scoliosis to create teen leadership and support within the community.
