Caring at Home - National Carers Day

Join the Canadian Home Care Association (CHCA) in celebrating 2017 National Carers Day!

Through our active involvement in Carers Canada and the International Alliance of Carer Organizations, CHCA has championed for the recognition of carers as partners in care. The CHCA holds the role of secretariat, with our Executive Director being the current President of Carers Canada.

The 2017 National Carers Day will mark a milestone for Canadian carers! On April 4, the Prime Minister will release a statement in recognition of the diversity, role and value of carers. This is an action that CHCA, along with many carers and diverse stakeholders across Canada, have collectively advocated for over the years. The Prime Minister's Statement reaffirms the importance of supporting carers to our Government.

The theme this year is "Caring at Home - Recognizing Caring Canadians", as we continue to advance a national agenda to provide the necessary supports for individuals who take on an unpaid caring role. Through "Caring at Home", we aim to raise awareness of carers' valuable role in supporting older adults with frailty, individuals with complex, chronic disabling conditions, and those at end-of-life to stay safely at home.

On April 4, join us in celebrating National Carers Day.
