Flu shots now available at physician offices, local pharmacies and community clinics

Ottawa –The publicly-funded flu shot is available at no cost to people who live, work or study in Ontario.

There are many ways to get the flu shot:
  • Your family doctor for anyone six months or older
  • Your local pharmacist for anyone five years or older
  • Ottawa Public Heath community clinics, including by-appointment clinics for children over six months old and under five years old and their immediate family
  • Hospital walk-in clinics

All the options are listed at ottawa.ca/flu including interactive maps to help you find the nearest location. Parents of children under five can make an appointment by calling Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744.

Along with getting the flu shot, you and your family can stop the spread of the flu by continuing to practice good health hygiene:
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with your arm, not your hand
  • Avoid crowds, public gatherings and stay home if you are sick
  • Do not visit hospitalized patients or relatives in retirement and nursing homes if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms

For more information about the flu vaccine, and to find a flu clinic hear you, please visit OttawaPublicHealth.ca or call the OPH Information Line at 613-580-6744.
