Free Flu Shot – Protect Yourself and Others!

Renfrew County and District Health Unit wants to remind the public that it’s flu season. Everyone age six months or older can benefit from getting the flu shot on an annual basis, as the viruses that cause the flu change frequently.

Influenza affects people of all ages; however there are groups of people at higher risk of flu related complications. These include:
  • Children 6 months of age to less than 5 years of age
  • People 65 years of age and older
  • People with chronic medical conditions

It is important if you live with or provide care to someone who is listed in the group above, that you get your flu shot too. The flu vaccine is safe, and it’s the best way to keep you and the people around you healthy during the flu season. The flu shot cannot give you the flu, the virus is not live. Influenza vaccine is free for anyone who lives, works or attends school in Ontario.

Renfrew County and District Health Unit is offering 12 flu vaccination clinics across the County beginning November 2. No appointment necessary. For flu clinic dates and times, visit our website at www.rcdhu.com or call the Health Information Line at 613-735-6666 or 1-800-267-1097 ext. 666.

You can also get your flu shot from participating local pharmacies or your health care provider. Pharmacists can administer the vaccine to people aged five and over.

For Information about the nearest health unit or pharmacy flu shot clinic, visit the Flu Locator at www.ontario.ca/flu.
