Carefor Maple Brunch Is A Sticky Competition

Carefor Maple Sugar Brunch and Competition, Germania Hall, Pembroke, ON, Sunday, March 1, 2015- Pastry Chefs from Ottawa Valley’s best Bakeries, Restaurants, Caterers and Accommodations in the Ottawa Valley will be battling against each other to see who makes the “Best Maple Dessert in the Valley!” on Sunday March 1, 2015 in support of Carefor Health & Community Services.

Early entrants to this new event are Westwinds Restaurant and Best Western Pembroke, and Frisco’s Steak and Seafood and Egan Inn, Eganville. When asked what would be their dessert all answered that it was “Top Secret!” Some hinted that the local maple syrup would be key in their recipe, others would use taffy, or spun maple sugar and some felt that winning was based on an old family tradition, but all will make a sticky sweet dessert that attendees will sample on Sunday March 1, 2015 at the Germania Hall, Pembroke ON. The pressure is on these talented Pastry Chefs to impress five Celebrity Judges and 200 attendees with their most creative maple offerings to claim bragging rights for the year and the top prize of “Best Maple Dessert in the Valley!” There are still a few competitor spaces left but registration must be completed by Wednesday February 25 contact Carefor at rclayton@carefor.ca.

Attendees will get a full “Bushwacker’s Brunch” with Maple Syrup Fountain for dipping catered by Dreams Catering. But don’t fill up there, as everyone must sample each of the competitors maple desserts and judge the “People’s Maple Choice Award.” Don’t worry about the calories which you can burn off while shopping in the “Into the Bush” Art Exhibition curated by Purvis Gallery, laughing along with our MC Jamie Cybulski MyFM morning host, or biding in the Silent Auction featuring 4 round trip Via Rail passes between Ottawa and Toronto with a potential value of $1200. This event is sure to be a crowd pleaser and annual event.

Special thanks to our sponsors Frank Carroll Financial ltd, Dreams Catering, and Purvis Gallery, who’s dedication and support will assist Carefor to raise funds for their Fire Sprinkler Campaign. For over 117 years, Carefor Health & Community Services, a registered not-for-profit charity, has been helping seniors remain comfortably and safely in their homes longer by providing home health care and community services to support their independence. The Carefor Fire Sprinkler Campaign will install fire sprinklers in the Pembroke Civic Complex, an Assisted Living Home for 92 Renfrew County seniors.
