Elder/Vulnerable Adults Abuse consultation phone line now available

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service Elder Abuse Unit, in partnership with the Victim Crisis Unit, is launching a new consultation phone line for members of the public who have questions/concerns pertaining to elder or vulnerable adult abuse.

Effective today, the new consultation phone line will allow for more efficient and effective processing of requests and referrals. You can contact a member of our team at 613-236-1222, extension 2400.

“In recent years, we have seen an increase in the number of family or public inquiries regarding an elder or a vulnerable adult who may be the victim of physical or emotional abuse,” said Staff Sergeant Stephanie Burns, Criminal Investigations Directorate. “This consultation line will provide a tool to address their questions; and it may shed light into a potential abuse situation.”

Please note that emergencies or crimes in progress need to be reported by dialing 9-1-1.
