Free app makes keeping track of immunizations easy

With the start of the school year here and flu season coming, it’s a great time to take advantage of a new easy-to-use app that can help you keep track of your immunizations on your smart phone or other mobile devices. The ImmunizeCA app is designed so that individuals and families can:

  • Easily record and store vaccine information
  • Access vaccination schedules
  • Manage vaccination appointments for the entire family
  • Access evidence-based and expert-reviewed information about recommended and routine vaccinations for children, adults and travellers
  • Receive alerts about local disease outbreaks

The ImmunizeCA app was developed this past spring by Immunize Canada in collaboration with the Canadian Public Health Association and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, with funding provided by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The Eastern Ontario Health Unit also proudly contributed to the project by producing the national launch video featuring Dr. Kumanan Wilson explaining how the app works:

The app is solely for convenient personal record-keeping, reminders and updates relating to immunizations. It does not transfer information to outside agencies. Therefore, parents still need to inform the Eastern Ontario Health Unit every time their child receives a new vaccine.

The ImmunizeCA app is available for free from iTunes, Google Play or BlackBerry World. For more information, click on the ImmunizeCA app button below.

To report that your child has received a vaccine, call the Eastern Ontario Health Unit at 613-933-1375 or 1 800 267-7120.
