Home care Ontario and thehealthline.ca collaborate to help Ontarians

Aug 20, 2014 – Home Care Ontario and thehealthline.ca have joined forces to strengthen and simplify services for Ontarians searching for care. Home Care Ontario is excited to have had the opportunity to partner with thehealthline.ca to display information about members on the new site and to provide a reciprocal link to thehealthline.ca’s massive database of health care services listings across the province. This partnership is efficient for Ontarians seeking care and offers access to a broad range of service and supports to keep people safe and independent at home. The partnership is efficient for both organizations and the move is most importantly a win for people seeking health care services in the province.

“As the voice of home care in Ontario, families view our website as a trusted and valuable resource to assist them in choosing care options”, said Sue VanderBent, Association CEO. “Thehealthline.ca was extremely helpful in accommodating our interest to continue to ensure access to the most current information about our members’ services. We immediately recognized the value of leveraging thehealthline.ca as a province-wide portal to identify Association members and to add our information to the wider health care information available across the province”.

Thehealthline.ca enables people to find services quickly and easily thereby reducing demand on other system resources and gives health professionals a reliable source of information about local and provincial health resources for their patients.

“We appreciate the leadership demonstrated by the Association’s support for thehealthline.ca”, said Michael Robbins, Project Coordinator. “Thehealthline.ca database, developed and maintained by CCACs, OACCAC and
thehealthline.ca Information Network, has grown to include health care services in all LHINs and is strengthened by the support and leadership of the Board of Home Care Ontario. Whether patients, families and caregivers access it on their own or in combination with expert assessment and coordination services offered by CCACs, it is a critical link to services that can make a big difference to people’s well---being and quality of life”

All organizations are committed to helping people stay safe and independent at home and will continue to work together to maintain the highest caliber of information to Ontarians and their families seeking care.
