Rocky Sands and the Pebbles Roaring and Ready - Concert Marks Triumphant Return to the Stage

Pembroke - The vocal chords are warmed up, the set list is being practiced, and Rocky Sands has an impossible-to-deny twinkle in his eye ahead of the August 29th concert being held at the Best Western Pembroke Inn & Conference Centre.

“We can’t wait to hit the stage again,” announced Rocky Sands (Eli Boucher). “The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation has been close to our hearts for a long time, and the fundraising for MRI resonates with the band on a personal level. “

Formed in the vinyl-pressed rock and roll heydays of Fellowes High School circa 1971, Rocky Sands and the Pebbles have earned a loyal and dedicated following from all walks of life across Ontario. The band last threw a sold-out crowd performance in 2005 at the Pembroke Memorial Centre in support of the Pembroke Regional Hospital’s capital expansion. With a live recording available from this concert, the band is excited to get back on stage.

“This concert is a bit tougher, and a bit more special, with the loss of our saxophonist Zak (Len Zacharoff) and our drummer Jack Clouthier. These guys were instrumental in the band and irreplaceable. Their loss is felt by their families and us every day - which makes us want to play even better. Cancer is a terrible disease that doesn’t discriminate,” shared Rocky. “That is part of the reason we wanted to do this for an MRI, here in Renfrew County. MRI is critical for many diagnoses for oncological treatments and surgeries: we need this to improve the quality of life for everyone.”

With the show almost sold out, this is your last chance to grab a pair of tickets for the Rock and Roll is here to Stay! concert on August 29th. Proceeds are being invested in local healthcare, the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s MRI Image Matters campaign. With less than $700,000 remaining to be raised in the campaign, the Rocky Sands and the Pebbles concert provides the perfect late August party.
