Join Ottawa Hospice Services at Hike for Hospice on May 5th in support of The Hospice at May Court and Friends of Hospice Ottawa


Join the Hospice movement! This unique national fundraising event across Canada brings together organizations in Hospice Palliative care to raise funds and awareness in our community!

The morning Hike for Hospice on May 5, 2013, in support of The Hospice at May Court will take place from 9am to noon, beginning and ending at 114 Cameron Ave. Hike along the streets of Ottawa South in an effort to raise funds and awareness for The Hospice at May Court and its four care services.

The Tracy Arnett Realty Hike for Hospice is The Hospice’s second largest annual fundraiser, and this year marks the eleventh annual hike. People are asked to gather pledges and then hike to raise awareness for hospice palliative care. For more information please visit www.hospicemaycourt.com.

“Hospice palliative care is such an important need in our community and we need to fundraise over 1/3 of our dollars in order to provide these key services. ” says Lisa Sullivan, Executive Director for Ottawa Hospice Services, “Our fundraising goal for this hike day is to raise $180,000 between both Hike events, in Old Ottawa South and Kanata.”

The ninth annual afternoon Hike for Hospice in support of Friends of Hospice Ottawa will commence at noon and take place in Andrew Haydon Park. For more information please visit www.friendsofhospiceottawa.ca

Registration for each hike is $25 – this covers a commemorative shirt, coffee and snacks, lunch, entertainment, and a day with friends and family supporting a noteworthy cause.

“The hikes are a great opportunity to bring the local communities together for a day of fun while raising proceeds for a great cause,” says Chris Warburton, “we look forward to seeing everyone and are truly thankful for all the support we receive.”
