Is Med School For You? Learn First-Hand What First Year in Medical School Is Like When the Pre-Med Club Meets March 26

PEMBROKE – If a career in medicine peaks your interest it’s time you joined the Pre-Med Club. Sponsored by the Upper Ottawa Valley Medical Recruitment Committee, the Pre-Med Club is open to anyone interested in attending medical school.

On Tuesday, March 26th, the group will host its second meeting of the year in the Board Room at Pembroke Regional Hospital (1st floor, Tower C) from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with special guest speaker Justin Godbout.

Justin is currently a first-year medical student at the University of Ottawa and a proud past-member of the Pre-Med Club. When it began six years ago, Justin was among the first students to experience what the club offers.

Born in Renfrew, Justin and his family moved to Pembroke in the year 2000 where he attended Fellowes High School and was a graduate in the Class of 2008. After high school, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Queen’s University and now in his first year of medicine, he wants to share his experience with other students.

The Pre-Med Club was created for local high school students and others who have a genuine interest in medicine. In order to meet the Recruitment Committee’s goal of attracting local physicians, medical students and residents to our area, this club was designed to offer encouragement, guidance and mentoring to local students and to aid them in preparation for a career as a doctor.

At the Pre-Med Club meetings, students and parents are encouraged to ask questions and gain as much knowledge about the profession and what it takes to be a doctor.

No advance registration is required to attend the meeting.
