Seaway Valley Community Health Centre Telemedicine Program
We are pleased to announce the arrival of several new Telemedicine Programs at the Seaway Valley Community Health Centre (SVCHC).
Telemedicine is the use of telecommunications and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance. It helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant rural communities.”
The SVCHC now operates a telemedicine program to facilitate client access to various providers throughout our region. The Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) allows clients and health care providers to connect by videoconferencing with digital technology (i.e., stethoscope and camera).
Initial new programs include:
- A Palliative Care program for oncology patients through the Ottawa Hospital (TOH)
- Telenephrology Clinics with TOH
- Telecardiology Clinics with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI)
- Cardiac Rehabilitation Telehealth Clinic (Home Program) with the UOHI
- Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Program at the UOHI
- Endocrinology Clinics
- Individual referrals to The Ottawa Fertility Center
In addition to the programs listed above, there are sevetral consultants in various specialities accepting referrals through telemedicine. The SVCHC would be pleased to coordinate and host yoru clients for telemedicine encounters on site in our Centre.
As we continue to develop our Telemedicine Program, we are pleased to work with your to increase the number of clients supported through telemedicine to create a healthier community.
