Arnprior Regional Health Changes Name and Look

Arnprior Regional Health (ARH) officially launched last evening, recognizing the exciting health changes taking place in Arnprior and surrounding communities. Arnprior Regional Health brings the hospital, nursing home, and other health care services together under one umbrella for more coordinated care.

Specifically the new Arnprior Regional Health includes: Arnprior & District Memorial Hospital, The Grove Nursing Home, the Primary Health Care Centre, Assisted Living, as well as linkages with partners across the region. “We are changing and growing to meet the needs of our local communities,” explains Board Chair Jay Johnston. “ARH is becoming a regional leader and ‘hub’ for selected health services. We are no longer just a hospital and a nursing home – we are much more. And through this enhanced collaboration, we can ensure high quality and safe care across multiple entities. We can also share best practices across our multiple services and focus on quality improvements resulting in improved clinical outcomes and higher resident and patient satisfaction.”

Arnprior Regional Health builds upon a long history of caring for local communities and that commitment will never change. ARH is responding to the needs of those communities, keeping pace with clinical innovations such as less invasive surgical procedures. “We are also working closely with our community partners to bring more services to Arnprior,” adds Eric Hanna, President and CEO. He cites the new Assisted Living program as an excellent example. As part of the Ministry of Health’s Aging at Home Strategy, Assisted Living partners with the Champlain Community Care Access Centre and matches the needs of seniors and their caregivers with the appropriate local support services to help seniors stay in their own homes and avoid premature admission to the hospital or long-term care homes.

Arnprior Regional Health builds upon Ontario’s health plan and addresses the need for more collaborative, system-focused care delivery. “Arnprior Regional Health is helping to drive transformation in rural health care and serves as a model for integration in the system,” notes The Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Health. “This name change is representative of a shift from provider-focused to patient-focused care as part of our Action Plan for Health Care. Congratulations to everyone who is making this change happen and delivering high quality care to the people in this community.”

Support for Arnprior Regional Health at the local level is also evident. “The launch of Arnprior Regional Health is a visionary example of how health services are adapting to changing needs. By fostering clinical innovation and developing new partnerships, Arnprior Regional Health is positioning itself to be a true model for change in our region. The Champlain LHIN fully supports this transformative plan, and congratulates all those involved for developing such forward-looking local strategies,” says Chantale LeClerc, CEO of the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).

John Yakabuski, MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing -Pembroke, agrees. “The new Arnprior Regional Health accurately identifies the array of health care services now being provided for our local communities. As the mandate of your organization has changed over the years, it is only fitting that your name should be reflective of those changes. Arnprior Regional Health does exactly that.”

“It is an exciting day for everyone, especially our patients, residents and families,” sums up Jay Johnston. “We are building on a long history of caring and now we can do even more. We are moving forward – together.”
