Pembroke Regional Hospital Invites The Public To Tour The New Surgical Suites

PEMBROKE – After much anticipation, the Pembroke Regional Hospital is thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of its new surgical suites and a one-time opportunity for the public to tour this new space before it is operational.

On Thursday, March 10, public tours of the suites as well as pre-op and recovery areas will take place starting at 4:30 p.m. after the space has been formally opened in a celebration involving community partners, members of the Hospital’s healthcare team and other invited guests.

Regular tours of the dedicated space located on the third floor of the Ottawa Valley Health & Wellness Centre will then run on a first-come, first-serve basis from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“In the very near future, this space will become a sterile environment, accessible only by our staff, our physicians and our patients who require surgical procedures,” said Hospital President and CEO Pierre Noel.

“An opportunity to see what our community now has in terms of surgical capacity as well as the state-of-the-art technology we have acquired to meet the growing needs of our surgical program is quite rare so we hope that those in our region who are able wll take advantage of this and come and see why we are so proud of what we are now unveiling,” Mr. Noel said.

Complimentary parking for those taking the tour will be available in the Health Centre’s parking lot (off Mackay Street) and at the Marguerite Centre across the street in the front and rear parking areas.

All tour participants will enter the Health Centre through the side door located beneath the link connecting the Health Centre and the Hospital. There will be no access through the Hospital.

Mr. Noel said highlights of the tour will be a demonstration of the video links between the operating rooms as well as a live demonstration of a mock surgical procedure.
