Food Inspection Report Disclosure System
The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is taking the first step towards developing a disclosure system for food establishment inspection reports.
The Ontario Public Health Standards released by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care at the end of 2008, require that all boards of health establish a procedure for disclosing information from food premises compliance inspection reports to the public upon request.
To ensure a disclosure system which best meets the requirements of citizens served by the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit, we are providing an opportunity for input. Two separate anonymous surveys are available: one survey for the general public; the second survey for the owners and operators of food establishments in the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark area.
The surveys are located on the health unit website at www.healthunit.org. We encourage all residents to participate via the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit website from their home computer or local library computer. Residents who do not have access to the internet may fill out a paper copy of the survey at any one of our local health unit offices located in Brockville, Smiths Falls, Kemptville and Gananoque and leave the completed survey at the health unit office in a sealed envelope which will be provided. The deadline for these completed surveys will be March 5, 2010.
Next steps will include summarizing the survey feedback and developing a Leeds, Grenville Lanark District Health Unit food inspection report disclosure system to be implemented in 2010.
