Flu Vaccinations Continue

The Renfrew County and District Health Unit reports that H1N1 influenza vaccine continues to be available to all people who live, work or attend school in Renfrew County and District.

As well, in accordance with provincial sequencing of the influenza immunization program, seasonal flu vaccine will also be available at the remaining Health Unit clinics, beginning December 1, 2009.

“The seasonal flu vaccine program will resume for anyone who wants or needs the vaccine” said Dr. Michael Corriveau, Medical Officer of Health. “Both flu vaccines will be offered at presently scheduled clinics, as well as through the majority of health care providers in our jurisdiction.”

Parents of children under three years of age, and those with children aged 3 to 9 years with chronic medical conditions are reminded that a second dose of the H1N1 vaccine is required for adequate immunity.

The public should continue to consult the health unit website (www.rcdhu.com) for the dates and locations of flu clinics.
