Champlain CCAC announces new community Board of Directors

October 5, 2009 - The Champlain Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is pleased to introduce its new community-based Board of Directors.

Returning members – Board Chair Lynn Graham, Marilyn Barry, Jean Brisson, Barbara Lajeunesse and Michael Tate – have been joined by Denise Alcock, Jocelyne Constant, J. Michael Ennis, Bob Kulas, Louise Logue, Ralph Moxness and Anne Noonan. Members were elected at the Champlain CCAC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in Ottawa. This was the Champlain CCAC’s first AGM following CCACs’ April 1, 2009 move from Order in Council appointed boards to community boards.

“Our new Board of Directors is comprised of respected community leaders who have a wide range of expertise and represent diverse cultures and geographies across the Champlain region,” said Ms. Graham, who will remain Chair of the Board. “Each of us brings a unique perspective to the table and I look forward to working with this board, which will lead the Champlain CCAC into the future.”

“The move to a community board will provide us with better capacity to address our continually expanding role in the health care system and to advance home and community care for the citizens of Champlain,” said Champlain CCAC Chief Executive Officer Sheila Bauer. “This is another integral step to helping us realize our vision of Outstanding Care – every person, every day.”

About the Champlain CCAC

The Champlain Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is the second largest health service provider in the Champlain LHIN with a budget of approximately $179 million and over 650 staff. It serves about 25,000 residents on any given day, and close to 55,000 clients annually across our region.

The Champlain CCAC connects you to the care you need at home and in your community. By providing a single point of access to health and support services, the Champlain CCAC helps people live independently in their homes and will assist with the transition into a long-term care home if required. The CCAC plans, coordinates and ensures the delivery of a full-range of in-home and community-based services to support clients and their caregivers. In addition, the CCAC provides clients with information and referral to alternate sources of care in the community.
