OVER $37,000 RAISED TO SUPPORT THE 12,000 PEOPLE WITH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE IN OTTAWA AND RENFREW COUNTY

The Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County would like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, and supporters of the 23rd Annual Hammond Alzheimer Golf Tournament held at the Hammond Golf and Country Club on August 14th for making this year’s tournament another incredible success. The continued commitment and support of Hammond Golf’s owner Len Gendron and his staff have been amazing. Since 1987, almost $500,000 has been raised by tournament supporters. This year’s event had the help of over 150 players to raise over $37,000 to support the Alzheimer Society’s vital programs for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their families as well as promotion of research.

Our thanks to our silent auction and raffle donors as well as our congratulations to the following raffle winners: Carolyn Snell for the Blue Mountain Getaway; Marcie Waugh for the Kingston Cruise & Stay; and Richard Gendron for the Bourget Inn and Spa Escape. Many thanks too to our event emcee Ken Grant, our chapter’s ambassador, for his help in spurring on higher bids for our silent auction items.

A sincere thank you to the tournament’s principal sponsors of Atria Networks and Club Intrawest as well as the following sponsors whose generous contributions helped to make this event such a tremendous success: Billings Lodge Retirement Community; Cassie Populaire Trillium; Extendicare Laurier; Extendicare New Orchard; Extendicare Starwood; IBM; Hammond Golf & Country Club; Investors Group; GPS To Go; Hurst Marina; McCay, Duff and Company LLP Chartered Accountants; Novartis; Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre; RBC Dominion Securities Dawn Morewood.

In Ottawa and Renfrew County, an estimated 12,000 people have Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. For every person affected by Alzheimer’s disease, 10 to 12 others are directly impacted. Visit www.alzheimer-ottawa-rc.org to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and local Alzheimer programs.
