Free Urgent Dental Care for Children and Teens

The Children in Need of Treatment (CINOT) Program has been expanded! The program, which originally covered children from birth to age 13, now covers children age 17 and under.

Eligible treatments may include:
  • scaling, fluoride or sealants
  • fillings
  • X-rays
  • extractions
  • root canal treatments
  • some partial dentures

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit reminds everyone that prevention plays a key role in oral health. Tooth decay and other oral health problems can be prevented, but parents have to help their children start good habits at an early age. Some practical tips for parents include starting a regular brushing and flossing routine, offering healthy snacks that are lower in sugar, and regularly checking their children’s teeth and gums for any changes that may be a sign of a problem.

For more helpful tips or to find out if your child or teen qualifies for the CINOT program, please contact the Eastern Ontario Health Unit at 613-933-1375 or at 1 800 267-7120.
