Service Description: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: A rapidly progressive fatal neuromuscular disease characterized by the degeneration of a select group of nerve cells and pathways in the brain and spinal cord, leading to progressive paralysis of the muscles.

Services and activities include: Information and referral * educational program for health professionals * public education * medical equipment loans program * support group meetings for patients and their caregivers * guest speakers provide insight and information on various topics of interest.

Also provides an opportunity for patients and caregivers to socialize and help each other by sharing ideas and experiences.

Fees: None - for support group
Application: Registration with the Society is normally done at the time of diagnosis
Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Lou Gehrig's disease, patients are automatically members
